Winter Cabin & Giveaway Winner!

This weekend at the cabin was heaven. Seriously. It was so snowy there and we were up to all sorts of craziness. We attached a sled to the four wheeler & carted everyone around. I managed to get before & after photos which you can see below. We ate way too much & then cured our full tummies with a little JBiebs. It brought me back to my days of listening to justin timberlake for hours on end...though I didn't cry or scream hysterically at his concert....you've gotta hand it to those girls, they are passionate. 

I'd love to tell you our trek up the hill to the cabin consisted of all of us smiling & looking lovely like above....but really...it was like this....

I know you guys must all be wanting a pair of my neon green snow boots, but I'm sorry to tell you they are from years ago. What can I say? They're definitely a statement.

Cabin Fever

This weekend will be spent at a snowy cabin with my two sisters, my husband, and their boyfriends. We will be eating warm chili with chips, cheese, and sour cream. Then we will wash some pumpkin cookies down with apple cider. And once we are all so stuffed that we're unable to move, we will cuddle up with blankets and watch Never Say Never. Oh yes, Justin Bieber will be rocking our worlds this evening...and most likely on the drive up.

Yesterday it was rainy, and perfect FALL weather. I loved every second of it. Today was 37 degrees...I wasn't loving it so much. We went to Cafe Rio & then to the fabric store to get stuff for the pencil skirt I'm making [burnt orange...oh yes.] I got out all of my winter/fall clothes & swapped out my summer ones and it was so exciting--I can hardly wait to share them with you guys. 

I think I'd have to say Fall is my very favorite season. I love the clothes & the weather & the cuddling & food. In fact...I'm going to go make myself a BIG mug of hot chocolate & whip cream---heavy on the whip cream :)

Happy Birthday Big [but still very little] Sis!

Today is my older sister's birthday. She is 25, and to celebrate, we headed up for an evening at Antelope Island. It was a beautiful place with, yes you're seeing it correctly, white sand beaches AND buffalo. It's not every day you get such a combination, in fact, if you have a loved one whose two favorite things in the world are parades of buffalo and sandy beaches, this would be the perfect place. We had a lovely picnic, and of course, sang a birthday song. This time maggie joined in with vocals. 

While the day was wonderful, it was hardly enough to convey how I truly feel about my sister. If you have an older sister then you know what I mean. Growing up she was always one step ahead, and by one step I mean three years, and I looked to her for guidance and how to progress through those brutal teen years. In the last few years though, we've been progressing and growing up side by side. Both in school. Both experiencing the ups and downs of relationships. Both progressing in our faith. Both learning to love & appreciate ourselves. Both confused as ever at how this messy world always seems to manage to be a beautiful picture after all. We have been able to laugh together, cry together, yell together, and experience these moments that are that-much-more-perfect with each other. 

So today I want to celebrate her. I want to make it clear that I intend to be together every day, for the rest of my life, and her future husband, and future rotten (and most likely terribly cute) children will just have to deal with it--because she is my best friend, and that is that.

Conference & Changes

This weekend I watched General Conference from the comfort of my home, and then on Sunday headed to Salt Lake with my sister & husband to watch it in the conference center on Temple Square. It was a beautiful day and exciting as it was my sister's very first time. Afterwards, we headed to a reunion for my husband's mission in Tijuana [In the LDS faith, men serve a two year mission, typically from ages 19-21]. It was wonderful to meet the other guys he served with and get to know his experience a little better. Plus they fed us dinner. Now, who can complain about that? 

Who is absolutely thrilled that it is fall? Well, I sure am. I can't wait to break out the fall recipes, and crafts, and clothes, and just live in a world of autumn colors. I have also decided to use the changing of season as an excuse to revamp my own life. Here are some of the changes:

1. Wake up at 7:00-7:30

2. Study until 8:45

3. Work out at 9:00

4. Class...............

5. Dinner at 6:00

6. Study from 7-9:30

7. Whatever-the-heck-I-want-cause-I-deserve-it

3. Bedtime at 10:30

One day down and it has consisted of a lot of stubborn me and encouraging husband. Let's see how long this lasts. Wish me luck.
