Bow Tie Accessories

Alright ladies (and gentlemen) it is what we've all been waiting for.
Bow Ties have officially gone uni-sex.
I've always loved the look of bow ties, and think that my husband looks so cute in them. But, I have always thought, why not for me?! Why does such a cute accessory have to be only for men.
Well look no further--Spencer and Carly have saved the day.

Shoes: Miss Mooz from Goodwill // Jeans: Macys // Top: thrifted // Cardigan: H&M // Clip: c/o All Good Things (click here)

A little about this darling couple:

Spencer and his beautiful wife, Carly, were married this last March. The entire wedding was DIY and entailed Spencer teaching himself to sew so that a wider range of décor possibilites would be available to them. The wedding décor was vintage (and you know A Dose of Lovely adores anything vintage!), my favorite item that they created was Carly’s bouquet which was made up of antique brooches (brilliant right?!). After putting so much time into the wedding, it was hard for these two to go back to life as it was before. Since Spencer has always been an avid Bow Tie wearer, he decided that he may as well learn to make his own—After all, they’d be cheaper & the style he wants. Well these two took this bow tie idea and ran with it! In their Etsy Store you will find adjustable pre-tied bow ties for both men & babies (that’s right, I said babies…too cute), and for those ladies (because we all secretly wish we could pull off the bow ties) he has made bow tie headbands and clips.  Carly works at a pediatric clinic, and Spencer as a substitute teacher and writer for Salt Lake City Weekly and FILTER magazine. During the summer months he spends his time creating these lovely pieces, with the help of Carly who manages the business end of things. What I love most about this couple, is that they feel passionate about creating things they love, you won't find an item in their store that they wouldn't wear or use.

They also sell button items (check out their store to see these gems!)

What Isabel is Loving

OPI Monsooner or Later Nail Polish.
Seriously the best summery red I've been able to find.
It lasts long, and gives any look a little pop of color.

Maybelline's "The Falsies Volum' Express"
I heard about this first from here on The Lookbook. Check'm out, you won't regret it.
This stuff helps create long, separate lashes. Match it with an eye lash curler and you're set.

TOMS shoes are perfect for summer. They're easy to slip on, so comfy, and match with practically anything. Plus, for every pair you buy, a pair is donated to a child in need. You just can't beat the feel goods with these babies.

What Carissa is Loving

Floral Dresses
I can't stop buying them!! Whenever I go buy something like milk I end up coming home with a new floral dress. Problem? Maybe. There's just something so perfect about summer and floral dresses.

Sperry Boat Shoes
Looking for a shoe that's comfy and looks cute with shorts and capris for summer? Here you go. I slip these babies on whenever I'm on the go!

Stackable Rings
I love the options that stackable rings give you. It's a simple way to make your fingers look cute, I know that sounds weird but it's true. Find some cute ones in this shop.

Thrifted: Floral Top

This shirt was a thrift store find, and I love almost everything about it, except how it fits. I decided to take it in, in the back and add a cute antique button I've had laying around.

Here's how it turned out:

Shoes: Nordstrom's Rack // Shirt: Thrifted // Pants: Macy's

This outfit is perfect for summer or fall. I love it as a date night option. The heels give it a sexy little flair.

Thrifted: Love Letter Shirt

Shirt: Thrifted // Belt: H&M // Jeans: Pacsun // Shoes: Payless // Ring: Flea Market

I have a thing for flowy blouses. I found this one at a thrift store ten minutes from my house for $5 and it's 100% silk! I'm sure people walked by it thinking "if it weren't for the tacky 80's print maybe I'd buy this". But that's what I LOVE about this blouse. I've honestly never seen anything like it. That's the goal when shopping, Ladies. (Or at least mine). Go get yourself a crazy printed shirt and sport it!

Thrifted: Red Dress

Dress: Thrifted // Shoes: Ross // Belt: TJ Maxx

Here's a little secret: without that belt, this dress slightly resembles a muumuu, and by slightly, I mean really.
Thrifted dresses are the best, and sometimes the only way to go on a tight budget, and oftentimes with these finds a little bit of accessorizing can go a long way.

My Summer Shorts

Sweater/shirt/belt/bag: Forever 21 // Shorts: Urban Outfitters // Shoes: Sperry's.

Let me give you guys some background on these shorts, I love them. They're recycled mom jeans and I have called them my "Summer Shorts". Basically they're my go-to when I want to throw on something comfy and effortless. I love tucking in shirts these days so they're perfect for that too. I paired it with my new fave sweater and a belt that pops and I was good to go. Don't be surprised if you see these shorts appearing in posts to come!

Cut Off Shorts

Shorts: Pac Sun Jeans // Shirt: Nordstrom's Rack

Recycle, Recycle, Recycle. That's what we've all been taught right? Cutting old jeans down into shorts is a fantastic way to create new items within your wardrobe without spending a cent! Also, you'll find that I can't get enough of the look of loose tops paired with tight bottoms. I love the 80's look of it all, and feel so free [no fear of food babies in a top like this].

About A Dose of Lovely

My name is Isabel. In December 2010 I married the love of my life, and my partner in crime, Johnny.
A Dose of Lovely is all about my fashion finds, daily ramblings, and ongoing self-discovery.
My goal is to create a place where others receive what I'm intending to give, and that is, a daily dose of lovely.

A little about me:

I'm a lover of bargains. I dedicate an entire month to my birthday. I love cookies & milk. I have an on the side romance with Tj Maxx & Ross. I think besides myself, my husband is the funniest person I know. I'd call my kindle one of my best friends. I rely on Diet Coke & Hot Cheetos during finals week....or any week. I want to work with adults with disabilities. I love the brain rotting activity we call "watching television". I'm in the middle of two incredible sisters. & I love sharing this blog with you.

I just love hearing from you,
