The Finger

Guess what? This was the very outfit I was wearing before I destroyed my index finger. 

It was a dark stormy night...

okay okay, it was actually just your average evening. We were cooking with friends, and I decided I absolutely had to have brownies...and that they absolutely had to have cream cheese filling mixed  in.

So while I was blending that cream cheese filling I stupidly chose to clear the cream cheese out of the hand immersion blender with my finger, accidentally turned it on, and then expressed my shock in form of words which I will kindly spare you of here....oops.

So 2.5 hours & 13 stitches later, I returned to the dinner & no...we did not have the cream cheese brownies.

That's what I get for giving into cravings.

Sequin Sweaters

Fall is coming & I broke out my sweaters! I loved wrapping it around me & enjoying the crisp air around. In other good news, Johnny and I have been married for 9 months today. 

When Johnny called my dad to ask permission to marry me, and they spoke for a whole two hours, my dad got off the phone and turned to my mom and said, "well..either this is too good to be true, or we've seriously hit the jackpot."

I'm here to tell you that we seriously hit the jackpot. 

This past week of finger-aching-drug-induced-craziness has consisted of him running around frantically to meet my every need. This includes but is not limited to:

1. Cleaning the entire house

2. Staying up with me until I can fall asleep

3. Conducting a drug hunt with me so that I could fall asleep [we kept it relatively legal]

4. Dancing ridiculously so that I would laugh when these dang drugs made me cry [sureee it was the drugs...that's what they all say]

5. Cooking our very first fall meal of this year--chicken & dumplings!

6. Coming home from work early to accompany me in a Modern Family marathon

7. Beat Boxing when I spontaneously decided to freestyle [Now THAT, I can't blame on the drugs]

8. Meeting with my professors to explain what is going on

9. Biking to get me bandaging

10. Helping me organize tonights girls night even though he knows it means being kicked to the curb for at least a few hours. 

The wildest & most wonderful part is that this past week was NOT very far off from every single day of the past 9 months.

I'd also like to inform you that, his reason for being on campus does not mean any of the following.

2. We are working to save the whales

3. Whales can suddenly walk, or furthermore... frolic. 

4. We are celebrating anything that even is remotely related to whales.

It is simply to inform students that they can pair with a professor to conduct research...

Right....

that makes total sense. 

P.S. Send good thoughts my index finger's way, I'm getting a little tired of looking like I'm wearing one of those #1 fan gloves you can buy at sports games.

Let's Share Secrets

It's been an eventful weekend. I even managed to score an invitation to the ER [that's the place to be these days, right?] after putting my finger in a hand immersion blender. I'm telling people I got into a knife fight though, much cooler. So here I am, my friends, drugged up and ready to tell all of my secrets--you better start askin now! 

These boots I'm wearing, were bought by my dad, for my mom, while they were dating. Aren't they incredible?! I can & most likely will, wear them with everything. You would too, right?

Aren't these two ladies just darling?! I had to literally rush after them to catch up so I could get their photos, and I probably looked like a total creep, but it was 100% worth it. What I like most? These girls kept it simple. They took a fantastic patterned piece, paired it with some simple, bold colors, & accessorized minimally---and then they rocked it.

Cupcake Coma

Yesterday, was my little sister's birthday. It was her very first birthday away at college & my older sister & I were determined to make it special. Since I was caught up in streamers, pizza, balloons, cupcakes, & candles, I was not able to post. But you should know it was worth it. She even said it was the best birthday she's ever had [more photos/videos to come]. I ate my heart out, which has resulted in a hopefully temporary cupcake coma. If I don't post tomorrow, you'll know what's happened...I just can't resist those sweet...yummy....delicious pieces of heaven! 

We gathered family & friends and we all shared what we love about Maggie. We did this in form of song, poem, or simply kind words. It was a hit! Johnny and I wrote her a song, it's about to hit the charts as #1. Okay, maybe I meant 1,000,000,000 but you can be the judge when I post it :) 

On a separate note, I'm crazy about this top. But I have a question for you guys. I love it, and I love how it fits, and the colors, and the pattern, and I especially love it with my high waisted jeans, but I am not sure about whether it works with skinny jeans & boots, what do you think? Is it a go? or a no go?

Our weekend has consisted of boxes of tissues, hot soups, and some good ol' modern family. I know. We're total party animals. Yesterday, we were kind of losing it after being inside for so many hours, so we decided to do a photo shoot & then we even wrote a song! [I might even present it to you guys tomorrow] It was a gorgeous day, that I enjoyed in the shade, as the sun kept making me sneeze. Super cute. You know...this stuffy red nosed, frantic sneezing, glazed watery eye look... It's gotta be in style somewhere right? Either way, I'm going to keep convincing myself it is until this subsides.

Hello my lovely readers, welcome to our newest feature! "Sorry I'm Stalking You but You're Just So Darn Cute." Aren't these girls justsodarnfreakingcute?! I have now evolved into a whole new world of pushing social boundaries by approaching absolute strangers and asking them if I can photograph them and let my readers admire their adorable sense of style. These girls were total sports about it--look at those beautiful smiles! 

What I loved most: 

Girl #1: The simplicity of the outfit allows the gold accessories to pop perfectly. That watch? Those sperrys? Give me a second to get over that cuteness. 

Girl #2: We all know I'm a sucker for the long skirts, and those gorgeous deep colors nearly put me over the edge, I love how she kept it simple with a solid v-neck & then accessorized with some big chunky earrings.

I'm not going to lie...these little "about me" surveys make me a little uncomfortable...and they have ever since they were posted everywhere on myspace & I.M. profiles. But it's such an easy way to share with you guys a few tid bits about me---so I gave in. I gave in, and I'm happy I did. You know why? Because some of these questions made me think...made me dig into my past, my habits, and just who I am. I felt a little bit like good ol' julia in runaway bride, trying every type of egg to discover what SHE likes. I think sometimes it's beneficial to take inventory of our likes and dislikes [no matter how trivial they may seem], and when one of those questions is tough to answer, or too many of them resemble the same responses that one ex-boyfriend of yours would give, we can follow Julia's example & find ourselves. Because it's impossible to love yourself before you really know yourself.

Scavenger Hunt

So here is the scavenger hunt you all have been dying to hear about! Yesterday I sent my husband all around town gathering supplies for a fun photo shoot! You see...he is a photographer (Click Here to Check it out) and so he is always the one behind the camera & never in front! It was such a blast, and the balloons made for such great shots in the gorgeous sunny weather. It was so nice to spend time together at pioneer park & afterwards we stuffed ourselves at Slab Pizza. I'd call that a good day.

Blue Vans, Blue day.

Hello there my lovely readers! Today was a dream, it began with a shopping trip to a huge antique mall, a nice large diet coke, and then mexican food to follow. Here's a little secret though, as much as I love this outfit now while looking at the photos, I felt like a clown all day. Now, this is most likely because my little monthly present could be on it's way any moment now (TMI? Well, too bad, it's my blog.) Point is, it was one of those days--no matter how much I TRIED to look good or feel good, I felt like a silly girl playing dress up. Well. I've decided that on days like that, I am going to do one or all of the following:

1. Have a good cry

2. Let my sweet husband comfort

3. Change into sweats

4. Eat lots of chips & dip

5. ...and chocolate

6. Watch episodes of whatever trashy show seems to do the trick

Tonight....I'll do all six.

My family and I had an end of summer BBQ at this beautiful park. I can't even express how lucky I am to have these two here with me in the same state! So far we've enjoyed SO much food, shopping, laughing & talking. The weather is cooling down...and it is officially perfect temperature. Autumn is coming quickly. I am so excited for:

1. Hot cups of cocoa 

2. Big comfy blankets

3. Blazers

5. Walking to class & crunching the fallen leaves!
